This Mama goose has been patiently waiting on this clutch of eggs for days now. Geese are VERY protective of their eggs and will certainly hiss and bite you if you get too close! So … we will keep our distance and patiently wait for goslings. Hopefully we have a photo of that soon.
Isn’t it amazing how well she blends in with her surroundings? Nature is amazing!
Recently, we bought 100 chickens. Now these little chickens, for a short time fit very easily into two paper boxes.
After they were delivered we transferred them into a stock tank with heating lamps over the top which they soon outgrew.
Below is a list of upcoming events to be held at May Farms over the next few months. We are adding new events weekly and nailing down details for current events daily so please keep posted as we continually update these events and add more!

All Roads Lead to Foam!!! The 5k Foam Fest is the newest and craziest race to hit the nation! Smiling and running don’t usually go hand in hand but the 5K Foam Fest is an amazing mix of foam, mud and obstacles thus making, fitness fun.
These little Chinese Geese arrived today. You can visit these babies or any animals in the barnyard on your next trip to May Farms! These feathered friends were not born here. Their feathers are soft and cuddly and they can not join their older friends in the water yet because they do not produce the oil like a mother goose provides for their young babies and they will get too cold. Until they produce that oil they will have to swim in climate controlled waters. Hope to see you at May Farms soon!
As a kid, the summer time meant lots of chores and busy days filled with changing water on crops and keeping an eye on the sprinkler. The sprinkler had to be adjusted, stopped and started manually. I would take turns with dad in the middle of the night, jumping on the 4 wheeler and changing water to make sure that our sprinkler didn’t run across the highway. Now, with the advancements in technology farming has become just as sophisticated as any other technological job out there. You can monitor sprinklers from the comfort of your home, you can program your tractor to drive in a straight line while applying an exact amount of fertilizer per square foot.

After a beautiful day of heavy snow the sun has finally peeked through at May Farms and we are enjoying the pristine landscape. Soon we will pull out or tractors and start plowing the driveways and parking lot. There is something about untouched snow that is peaceful.
We get a lot of questions about organic farming from visitors through out the year. As May Farms uses a variety of sustainable farming practices we are not organic farmers. It is refreshing to know that 99% of farmers say that protecting the environment is a good goal to practice. We feel as stewards of the land it is our responsibility to use as many farming practices as we can to help conserve the land, water and other resources at May Farms.
Big news today for the CSU Agricultural Education Program! Four of Colorado’s top agricultural lenders have joined together to donate more than $1 million for construction of a modern Center for Agricultural Education at CSU that will train new generations of agricultural teachers and leaders. The May Family has had 4 children attend CSU, two of which graduated with Agricultural degrees. As farmers with concern for the future of our industry, we are excited to see this new “Center for Agricultural Education” gain support as the need to properly educated and arm our future leaders is huge.
Thank you for your commitment to Agriculture!
The Colorado Agriculture Hall of Fame Banquet is held annually to honor those who have made significant contributions to our state and nation’s agricultural industry. All of the members’ portraits are displayed at the Colorado Department of Agriculture offices. Proceeds from the banquet support the Colorado FFA Foundation. This year the Hall of Fame will be held in conjunction with The Governors Forum on Agriculture.
Voted on by the May Farms staff…”God made a Farmer” - Paul Harvey. This one really hit home! What did you guys think of the Super Bowl commercials?
